Maya Jama become millionaire for first time after split from Stormzy

SHE’S one of the most popular women on TV and it turns out Maya Jama is also one of the richest.

The presenter has become a millionaire after working her way up the showbiz ladder.

An insider said: “Maya has been grafting for years, honing her craft, but this year she’s really come into her own.

“After leaving Radio 1 in May she said she had exciting projects and she wasn’t wrong. Landing a presenting gig alongside PETER CROUCH on his BBC primetime TV show Save Our Summer was massive, and it’s just the start.”

Maya’s company MIJ & Co has £1.3million in the bank and that figure will only rise.

Along with more TV deals, she is to launch her own skincare range this year and has big-money endorsements on the go.

Everything she touches seems to turn to gold and her ascent has been impressive.

Maya, from Bristol, who dated Stormzy from 2015 to 2019, went from a DJ on London community radio station Rinse FM to in 2017 becoming the youngest person ever to co-host the Mobo Awards.

From there she was picked up by Radio 1 and landed her first telly presenting gig, on MTV’s True Love Or True Lies, before becoming a team captain on ITV2 panel show Don’t Hate The Playaz.

Maya has also signed fashion ad deals with PrettyLittleThing, Adidas, Gap and Kurt Geiger.

There isn’t a lot she can’t do and we’re going to be seeing a lot more of her. I for one won’t be complaining and, as for her growing riches, she deserves every penny.

The stage is set for INXS musical

QUEEN, ABBA and Michael Jackson have all had their back catalogues turned into successful musicals.

Now INXS are getting their own stage show, 23 years after the death of their frontman Michael Hutchence.

The Aussie rockers – who had 18 UK Top 40 hits, including Need You Tonight – have signed a deal with live entertainment company The Michael Cassel Group to breathe new life into their tunes.

The agreement has been struck with the help of Chris Murphy, who runs the Petrol Electric record label they are signed to.

He said: “INXS’s music just continues to push new boundaries and capture the hearts of people around the world.

“Their music is like poetry, it tells stories, such beautiful stories, it’s just extraordinary.

“We’re now going to explore how we take these stories into a completely new dimension, the theatre.”

It’s not yet been revealed whether the show will be based on the band’s story or just their music, but there’s plenty to tell.

Frontman of the six-piece Michael dated Kylie Minogue and Paula Yates and enjoyed global success before his death in 1997.

Producer Michael Cassel, who has brought shows including The Lion King and Hamilton to the stage in the band’s home country, added: “This presents an exciting opportunity to create a new theatrical story, using an extraordinary catalogue that has been enjoyed throughout the decades both here in Australia and inter- nationally.”

I can’t wait to see it.

How can you not like this, Jason!

JASON DERULO and Jena Frumes are keeping people guessing about their romance.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed the singer and model are not following each other on Instagram – Jason having failed to like any of Jena’s posts for a week.

But she insisted things were still good between the American couple by sharing a video of Jason with the caption: “I love this man so much.”

Jena also posted this bedroom selfie to promote her deal with the fashion brand PrettyLittleThing.

With photos like this, Jason is mad not to be keeping his eye on her every move.

Brit back and happy

BRITNEY SPEARS has insisted she has never been happier, despite growing concern for her wellbeing.

The Womanizer singer sparked worries after disappearing from social media for a fortnight before returning to Instagram with a clip of her dancing and a video message telling fans they do not need to worry about her.

Britney – currently going through a legal battle with her dad, who looks after her finances and many key decisions – said: “I know that there have been a lot of comments and a lot of people saying a lot of different things about me, but I just want to let you guys know that I am fine.

“I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”

I just hope that’s true.

IT’S no secret that Liam Gallagher dislikes his brother Noel's solo music.

He has had a swipe at his elder sibling’s latest collaboration after the former Oasis guitarist teamed up with Camelphat for Not Over Yet.

Branding the tune “horses**t”, Liam went on to tell a Twitter user he had listened for two seconds and had then “come out in a rash”.

After a fan mocked him for giving the song publicity, Liam quipped: “Well it needs all it can get.” Ouch.

George a home boy

AFTER being stuck on his own for months during the first lockdown, GEORGE Ezra is making sure he’s not caught out again.

The Shotgun singer has moved out of his London flat to return to his family home in Herts – and he reckons it’s done him wonders.

George said: “It’s been another brilliant week and also, the thing I can’t overlook is the moving back home and still I’m seeing people I love, which makes a big difference.”

But for George, who is working on his third album, not leaving the house for weeks on end is nothing new.

He added on his Phone A Friend podcast: “Three or four years ago there was a trend of people dressing up as clowns in public and scaring people?

“I didn’t leave the house for two months. I hated it. I just thought, ‘Who is that fun for?’.

“Then scary films. I remember being at friends’ houses in groups when I was about 14, 15, and they would be like, ‘Let’s watch a scary film’. I used to have to say, ‘I might have to go home’.

“I remember that happening more than once.

“I went to watch the first Harry Potter for my little brother’s birthday and I had a recurring nightmare for two weeks that they were putting Voldemort’s face on my head, but in my family kitchen, and they’d go, ‘It’s your turn’, and it would be welded on to the back of my head.”

Best stick to rom-coms, George.

AC/DC legend Malcolm Young once tried to find the Loch Ness Monster . . . with a box of fireworks.

Recalling the moment, his bandmate Brian Johnson told NME: “One night we were four sheets to the wind and staying at this hotel right on the side of the loch.

Mal just said, ‘Let’s go and find the Loch Ness Monster.

I’ve got fireworks and it might attract it’. Mal had a drink in one hand, a box of fireworks in the other, and was trying to set fire to the loch. We were howling.”
