NCIS fans will remember Abby Sciuto (played by Pauley Perrette), who left the series back in 2018. Fans of the CBS show have always been loyal to the former cast members, keen to see what they are up to following their time in the ever-expanding franchise. And in her latest update to her social media followers, Perrette shared a heart-breaking but touching tribute to recent losses.
While it has been a number of years since Perrette appeared in NCIS, the star remains just as popular as ever.
Since leaving the crime drama and following a stint in the now-cancelled sitcom Broke, Perrette has retired from acting but took time out of her schedule for an important tribute.
Posting an image of herself at church on November 8, the star wanted to pay respects during All Saints Day.
All Saints Day is a religious holiday celebrated on November 1, on this day the church recognises all of those that have attained heaven.
On Twitter, Perrette wrote: “It was #AllSaintsDay at church today. So much loss in the last year, it’s almost unbearable.
“Lit candles for all those we are remembering. That one was for Dad.”
Perrette shared the devastating news earlier this year that her father had passed away following a battle with Covid.
“All blessings to all who are hurting,” she continued in her tweet before issuing a touching plea to her followers.
“And the holidays are so hard, look after each other,” Perrette added.
Fans were quick to share their support, with many of them commenting on the post to send across their thoughts and prayers.
@dd_umback wrote:” Oh sweet @PauleyP thank you! I send prayers, comfort, hugs and love as you think of your Daddy, your Mama, and all your loved ones in heaven.” (sic)
“Thank you for sharing! Your daddy is proud of you and he looks at you from the sky with a lot of kindness,” @ElodieCarrion shared.
@xdashlydia commented: “Sorry for your loss Pauley. We heard so many names read for #AllSaintsDay in my church today too. Even with our faith that they are in Heaven, we miss them, and it still hurts…a lot.”
@Pajamas31399287 added: “Thank you for your words. They do comfort. So many of us (me included) have had to face loss recently. I like to think that those who have left before us have begun a greater journey, one far more spectacular than any of us can ever imagine.”
Perrette left NCIS during season 15, shocking fans with her sudden exit.
In the universe of the series, Abby left NCIS after an attempted assassination, forcing her to be resigned in order to protect her.
Since her departure, a number of the show’s biggest stars have followed suit with the series now in its 19th season.
Most recently, series stalwart Mark Harmon – who played the everpresent Gibbs – said his goodbyes.
In the show, Gibbs headed north to Alaska after almost two decades of crime-fighting, although the door has been left open to a possible return.
In season 18, Jack Sloane star Maria Bello also said her farewell after stepping into the show after Perrette’s exit.
And Ellie Bishop actor Emily Wickersham also departed last season after an emotional goodbye with romantic interest Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama).
NCIS season 19 airs Mondays at 9pm EST on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be confirmed.
