CBS’ long-running procedural drama, could see one of its major characters on a dangerous downward path. NCIS’ Nick Torres (played by Wilmer Valderrama) could suffer a breakdown in the upcoming episode after fans spotted a worrying clue in the promo video.
Ahead of episode 12 titled ‘Fight or Flight,’ CBS released a promo video which showed fans a different side to Torres.
In the short clip, the Special Agent has been taking part in the underground which remains illegal in many parts of the country.
The promo opened with Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) making a remark about Torres’ appearance.
As he watched Torres take off his sunglasses, he stated: “Looks like you had a late night, that or you just got your pupils dilated.”
Throughout the 15 second trailer, there were a number of scenes which showed Torres in the boxing ring looking bloodied.
In one scene, a concerned McGee showed up while Torres was fighting and through the ring, he claimed: “You look like you’re trying to get yourself killed.”
It looked as though Torres didn’t plan on stopping because of his colleague’s concerns and wanted to continue despite his injuries.
While there’s a chance he could also be undercover on a case, McGee’s initial concern is enough to suggest Torres could be going through something emotionally.
Although boxing could also be a new hobby, it looked as though he was channelling anger from the past year of heartbreak.
However, the intensity of the underground boxing session could hint at the agent being on the verge of a breakdown.
Torres was forced to say an emotional goodbye to his colleague and sweetheart Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) even though they never officially got together.
After they spent months flirting, things were finally heating up for the pair when Ellie was forced to put NCIS behind her.
Torres sealed their goodbye with a kiss, which indicated a romance could’ve blossomed if they had the courage to ask each other out.
However, Ellie had to leave for Washington D.C. where she would become an undercover agent after an incident saw her labelled as a disgraced agent.
This left Torres completely heartbroken and without healing his loss he delved right back into work.
Another departure, which left Torres even more upset, was the exit of Agent Gibbs, as a spectacular boss he was also a father to Torres.
Gibbs’ departure left a huge hole in the hearts of viewers, so those at the precinct can undoubtedly feel the huge shift.
Torres made a great first impression on Gibbs and was even able to make the usually hard-headed boss crack a smile.
Yet again, Torres jumped back into work instead of grieving the departure of his closest friends, which could get too much and lead to a worrying breakdown.
Fans will have to tune in to see if this will be the case for Torres or if he will use boxing to let off some steam.
NCIS season 19 continues Mondays on CBS.
