Netflix announces return of acclaimed horror series just days after first season hits screens | The Sun

NETFLIX has announced the revival of an acclaimed animated horror series after a successful first season.

Castlevania: Nocturne gained an impressive viewership rating and has been ranked in the top 10 English TV shows just five days after release.

The animated horror series has been granted a second-season renewal just a week after its first season's full release.

Series showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde thanked fans of the show in a recent interview with Variety Magazine.

They said: "Thanks to all of the Castlevania fans, old and new, for the amazing response and support! We are excited to be able to bring you more Castlevania: Nocturne and the next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont."

Nocturne's success isn't surprising, as the Netflix has always been enthusiastic about its Castlevania animated shows, which adapt the long-running Dracula-killing video game franchise.

Netflix often promotes one show aggressively for a short while before moving on to the next big buzz, however, one sign that a Netflix show is doing well is when the streamer decides to quickly throw more money at it for a new season.

In this case, the streamer has already decided that the show has been hyped enough for a second season to be released.

The latest series has earned solid praise for its blend of history and fantasy.

Set amid the French Revolution, this is one of the only TV shows to talk in detail about the concurrent revolution that led to the founding of the Caribbean island Haiti.

"Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance."

Sex Education star Edward Bluemel features as the rookie vampire hunter Richter Belmont with Game of Thrones alums Iain Glen and Richard Dormer also starring in this vampire horror.
