Phillip Schofield has opened up about having anxiety over lockdown restrictions easing.

The 59-year-old television presenter spoke about his fears during Thursday's episode of This Morning.

Schofield and his co-star Rochelle Humes, who took over hosting duties while Holly Willoughby was absent this week, spoke to counsellor Sian Williams about the anxiety-provoking time.

Sian had asked viewers watching at home to contact the show if they were concerned about the Covid-19 restrictions easing.

She explained: "Some people will perhaps be feeling a little bit of anxiety about lockdown easing."

Phillip then revealed: "I am! I was saying to Gok [Wan].

"Now, Gok is Mr Party and he is going to take me under his wing and look after me.

"I was fine until maybe about three months ago and then I feel like I’ve jumped off the rails a little bit."

"You lose momentum and you get a bit scared. It’s not that I’m scared about the virus, it’s just the fact that I’m not used to going out", he added.

Sian told the presenter: "Just think where your brain’s been for the past year", as she added it's been in a "constant threat and danger".

Coronavirus lockdown rules have been eased as people can now sit outside at pubs and restaurants, get a haircut and go to the gym.

The lifting of some restrictions is part of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's roadmap plan to ensure the nation's safe return to normality after the pandemic.

Rochelle has been presenting This Morning alongside Phillip all week after Holly Willoughby revealed she was taking an extra-long break from the ITV show.

It comes after Holly announced she taking extra time off as she's working on another project away from This Morning.

Her time off first started during the Easter holidays, but she hasn't revealed what project she's been working on.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
