The fifth season of CBS and now Paramount’s hit military drama has gone from strength to strength over the past few months. After returning from its holiday hiatus at the start of January, SEAL Team’s David Boreanaz and his co-stars took part in one of the show’s most ambitious set pieces yet, and the star has recently revealed more on his Instagram page.
Jason Hayes star David unveiled two new behind-the-scenes clips from the set of SEAL Team after the latest episode of the Paramount action drama.
In episode 13, Pillar of Strength, the Omega mission takes an explosive turn in an underground uranium refinery.
Special Warfare Operator Sonny Quinn (played by AJ Buckley) blew the support beams, and the team had to make a hasty exit as the facility was engulfed in flames.
Although the sequence only lasted a few moments, it proved one of the most complicated scenes of the season so far.
The scene had to be shot at multiple angles, as the complex set-up meant it could only be performed once.
CGI wouldn’t cut it for this one, and David has revealed more about how the shot was pulled off on his Instagram account.
A thrilling video from the set of the show featured David’s co-star AJ running away from several practical explosions.
The star captioned the post: “Takes a huge amount of hard work and safety to pull off a practical sequence like this. This is one of many camera set ups!”

“We had one take to get it and a big shout out to the amazing Chris Nelson and his team!”
The SEAL Team lead also paid tribute to the show’s director of photography Eric Leach for catching the feat on camera.
He continued: “Also @ericleachdp and the best crew and cast for giving it their all on this show and this sequence! Safety first. Behind the scenes action!”
David also treated fans to another revealing video with a different angle to showcase how the stunt was performed.

After the rest of Bravo Team rush past, the camera is pulled along by a cart while AJ hurtles down the exploding corridor.
“Another camera angle on how we did this sequence,” David wrote.
“Practical and safe and real is how we do it! What a crew! Thank you!
“Plus a big thank you to the stunt department and the boys! Sound on! Take a TEAM!”
David encouraged his 699k followers to keep their speakers on to experience the full power of the sequence’s powerful practical explosions.
He also revealed how the nifty Go-Pro shot in the same episode came to his co-star AJ in the heat of the moment.
There’s just one episode left of the current season to go, so fans are keeping their fingers crossed that a season six renewal from Paramount is coming just around the corner.
SEAL Team season 5 concludes on Sunday on Paramount+ in the USA.
