The Mandalorian fans have waited a long time for news on when the new Star Wars series will air on Disney Plus. The last episode aired in December 2020 and viewers will be pleased to hear there is not too long left to wait. has all you need to know about when the new series will air.

When is The Mandalorian season 3 out?

The Mandalorian viewers have been kept occupied with a number of spin-offs, including The Book of Boba Fett.

Pedro Pascal’s character featured in a few episodes of the spin-off, with The Mandalorian season three picking up directly after the events of the Boba Fett series.

Din Djarin heads back to his home planet, Mandalore, to restore his reputation as a bounty hunter.

He was seen in a previous trailer fighting armed warriors in Mandalore.

Season three will start airing on Disney Plus from March 1, 2023.

It is likely to be made up of eight episodes, like the previous two seasons, with instalments airing weekly.

With this in mind, the season three finale is expected to air on April 19.

Characters returning for the new season include Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) and Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).

Bo-Katen Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) returns with newcomer Christopher Lloyd joining the cast.

The official Twitter account for the series shared a photo of Mando and Grogu together.

They confirmed: “The Mandalorian and Grogu return March 1 only on @DisneyPlus.”

Viewers are advised to watch The Book of Boba Fett before the show returns in order to fill in any story arc gaps.

There was a mixed response to the release date as fans hoped the series would return sooner.

“That is four whole months of torturous anticipation I am loathed to endure…but I will, dang it.”

Earlier this year it was suggested the series would air in February, during a panel at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim.

Co-creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni shared the update, but it appears the date has been pushed back.

The Mandalorian was the first Star Wars series to launch on Disney Plus and it went down a huge hit.

The platform also hosts the Obi-Wan Kenobi series with Ewan McGregor reprising his iconic role.

Fans have also recently watched the Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna.

The Armorer (Emily Swallow) is heard saying: “You have removed your helmet. What’s worse, you did so of your own free will. You are no longer Mandalorian.”
