Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has received numerous complaints about This Morning after the ITV daytime show featured TikTok star Oli London. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield interviewed Oli on the show last week about the fact that they identify as Korean. However, many viewers were offended by the social media star’s comments and lodged complaints.

123 complaints were filed with Ofcom after Oli, who is non-binary, starred on This Morning and explained their reasons for identifying as Korean.

While on the show, the 31-year-old, who is from England, confessed they had undergone surgery to look like a K-pop singer.

Oli admitted to being a big fan of Jimin from the band BTS and based their look on the music star.

Chatting with Holly and Philip, Oli said: “So my love for Korea started about nine years ago, I used to live in Korea and I was an English teacher there.

“I just became so fascinated with the culture, everything about it, the language, the food, the people and that’s actually when I started having plastic surgery to have the Korean look.

“I’ve just become absolutely obsessed with Korea and finally I’ve just had my transition surgery on my eyes and brow to complete my new Korean look and I’ve never been happier.”

The TikTok star explained how they previously felt “trapped” in their own body, but now feel as though they have an identity that is Korean.

“I feel great and I hope people can respect that this is the way I identify, this is how I feel and I’m just living my best life and I mean no offence to anyone,” Oli added.

Oli has already spent £175,000 on surgery and plans to have more procedures in the future.

Their transition so far has seen them undergo five nose jobs, cheekbone reduction, and chin bone removal and reattachment.

Liposuction, whiting injections, lip filer and nipple correction are some of the other cosmetic treatments Oli has had.

Their appearance sparked a debate online with many This Morning viewers taking to social media to complain about the interview.

One viewer fumed: “Can’t believe what I have just witnessed on #ThisMorning. You are NOT Korean and you can’t just change your race by having 15 surgeries.”

“In all seriousness though being trans-racial is actually disrespectful to anyone who’s trans-gender or something actually important. Get a Korean passport. Learn the language. Live there. Don’t change your face, that won’t change your identity. #ThisMorning,” another commented.

A third viewer wrote: “Can’t understand why this person is claiming [they’re] Korean now can’t understand why it’s offensive? Race isn’t a trend. Maybe if you were actually Korean you would understand that?!”

A fourth posted: “How can you give Oli the time of day????? How can you with what they said!!!!! They are not Korean and this so very problematic! Please DO NOT give him a platform!”

Some viewers even Tweeted to let others know they’d filed complaints with Ofcom.

One viewer wrote: “If you can, please file an ofcom complaint surrounding Oli London’s appearance on #ThisMorning it was incredibly offensive and made many viewers uncomfortable.”

“Just filed an ofcom complaint against this interview, and i encourage others to do the same,” another viewer said.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
