Tom Holland and Zendaya are currently starring across from one another in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Though a standalone movie centered on the web-slinging hero, fans and critics alike have affectionately deemed the film an epilogue to Endgame, as it confronts the emotional turmoil the previous film, and the overall Avengers saga, catalyzed.
Tom Holland and Zendaya have been praised for their respective performances, as their chemistry is both affectionate and playful – an on-screen dynamic that has caused quite the upsurge in relationship rumors.
Tom Holland and Zendaya have been battling romance rumors for quite some time – squelching the gossip mill every time they dare post a picture together on Instagram – however, they remain close friends and enjoy each other’s company on and off the set.
Zendaya interviewed Tom Holland a few years back for Interview Magazine. As she peered into her young co-star’s soul, searching for answers regarding the future of his career, she realized how much she was unaware of. When compared to the interview, Tom Holland and Zendaya’s day-to-day conversations are a little less involved, to say the least.
‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ star Tom Holland describes his daily conversations with Zendaya as “childish”
During the interview, Zendaya discovered that Tom Holland plans to direct in the future. Zendaya goes onto explain that Holland has a “director-like mind” and praises the actor’s tendency to come up with ideas. Following this realization, Zendaya comments, “We never had this in-depth of a conversation when we were on set.”
When Zendaya begins to describe their on-set conversations, stating, “Our conversations are…” Tom Holland finished her sentence, chiming in with one word: “childish.”

Tom Holland and Zendaya have a playful on-set relationship. Work and life can be hard enough and, sometimes, you just need someone to goof around with in between takes, which is likely the reason this interview starkly contrasted with their norm.
Zendaya and Tom Holland seem to have one of those best friend relationships we all know and love: they can goof around, but they know how to put on their serious suits when the time need be; they are confidantes and clowns in cahoots.
Tom Holland discusses the stress of “waiting” associated with his casting in ‘Spider-Man’
Tom Holland explained to Zendaya that, with each round – with each casting test – he wanted to play Peter Parker even more. Zendaya asked about the stress tied to this process, to which Holland replied:
“The thing that killed me was the waiting. Even after my self-tapes, they would call me up and be like, “We’re going to let you know tomorrow.” Six auditions later, still nothing. On my last audition, they said, “You need to stay in Atlanta because we’ll tell you tomorrow.” So I stayed in Atlanta for about a week because my cousin lives there. With each passing day, there was no phone call. I flew back to London. Five weeks passed. I kept checking my phone every 20 minutes, trying to find something. Eventually, one day I was sitting on my bed with my dog just scrolling through Instagram, and there it was. It said, “Go to our website and check out who the new Spider-Man is.” And I did. It said my name. I went crazy.”

In the early stages, several different actors were pegged to take on Peter Parker, and Holland was not initially in the top spot. From Charlie Rowe (Rocketman, Red Band Society, Salvation) to Asa Butterfield (Sex Education, The Space Between Us), the competition was fierce.
In the end, Tom Holland beat out all the other possible actors initially eyed to put on the suit that has defined Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s careers. And, fans have been grateful ever since.
