Virgin River’s Paige Lassiter (played by Lexa Doig) was a major character during the first two seasons of the Netflix series. However, she was absent from season three after leaving the town and her son, Christopher (Chase Petriw) behind. One fan’s plea for a reunion between the two seems to have inadvertently hinted it could happen.
Since Paige left Virgin River, Christopher has been looked after by John ‘Preacher’ Middleton (Colin Lawrence).
Fans were expecting their story to continue further in season three, and while Preacher did play a prominent role, Paige didn’t return.
It has left the Christopher storyline open-ended with viewers expecting a resolution at some point in seasons four or five.
Of course, no details about the fourth seasons’ storylines have been revealed, but one fan took to Instagram in a plea for a Christopher and Paige reunion.
The fan page @virginriverseriesfan wrote: “This cute little kid [Christopher] needs to be reunited with his mother Paige.
“Until then he is lucky to have a father figure in Preacher who is always there for him, and I am sure that Preacher feels like a real dad to him.” (sic)
The post was then liked by the official Virgin River Instagram account (@virignriverseries) and Petriw himself (@chasepetriw).
Petriw liking the post seems to suggest the young star is open to the idea and hasn’t ruled anything out for season four.
The same is true for the official Virgin River page, with the like potentially suggesting a big surprise in season four or five.
Yet, Christopher has other problems following season three, with Preacher drugged and left alone in the woods.
The event is believed to be tied to Paige, who has been missing since the end of season two.
Paige accidentally killed Christopher’s father, Wes (Steve Bacic) in self-defence, pushing him down a flight of stairs.
This is the reason she came to Virgin River in the first place, and it is the reason why she had to leave.
Wes’ twin brother Vince (also Steve Bacic) arrived in Virgin River, on the hunt for Paige and Christopher.
This forced Paige to jump town again, and she hasn’t been heard from since.
However, in a sinister cliffhanger, season three ended with Vince lurking in the darkness inside Christopher’s home.
Of course, Preacher’s poisoning is highly likely to be connected to the case, with the fourth season potentially giving viewers some overdue answers.
If this is the case, it may force Paige to return to the town now that Preacher is unable to keep Christopher safe.
Whatever happens, it is sure to be a dramatic and intense confrontation for all involved.
For now, viewers are just hoping that Preacher makes it out of season four alive and that he can continue to be the father figure Christopher needs.
Virgin River seasons 1-3 are available to watch exclusively on Netflix.
