Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet and Jason Momoa all smiles at rainy Dune premiere

Hollywood’s finest were out in full force at Monday’s red carpet and special screening for the new sci-fi epic Dune, with stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Jason Momoa enjoying themselves at the glitzy event.

From director Denis Villeneuve, the new cinematic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic 1965 novel stars Chalamet as Paul Atreides, son of a powerful duke (Oscar Isaac) in the far future of humanity, who is given the stewardship of the dangerous and unforgiving desert planet Arrakis, aka Dune.

The planet, for all its challenging conditions, also yields the precious substance spice, the properties of which extend human life and make faster-than-light travel possible, leading to fights between rival houses for control over the planet.

Momoa, full of his usual personality, rocked up to the premiere in a vintage car, before walking the red carpet in a claret velvet jacket, black brocade waistcoat and trousers and matching patent tassel slip-on shoes.

The Aquaman star plays gung-ho sword-master Duncan Idaho, the right-hand man to Duke Leto and a close friend of Paul’s and House Atreides.

He larked about on the carpet with his co-stars Chalamet and Zendaya, pulling faces for the cameras as they soaked up the electric atmosphere.

Zendaya wore a stunning Rick Owens sequinned fishtail gown for the event at Leicester Square’s Odeon Luxe, with a dropped back and asymmetric sleeve.

The 25-year-old wore her hair in futuristic braids and accessorized with diamond bracelets and a statement diamond ring.

Chalamet also maintained his stylish red-carpet credentials in an eddy black suit adorned with zips around the shoulders and sleeves, and down the sides of his legs, finishing off the look with patent zip-up boots, fine silver chains around his neck and a chunky chain-link ring and bracelet.

Leading lady Rebecca Ferguson, who plays Chalamet’s powerful mother, Lady Jessica Atreides, kept the glamour turned up too in a dramatic black ballgown with sequinned bow embellishments and a chunky silver choker necklace.

As well as director Villeneuve in a sharp blue suit and patterned shirt, other cast members attending the event included Bridgerton’s Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Shadout Mapes, looking sleek in black, and The Suicide Squad’s David Dastmalchian in a fetching red and black Joshua Kane ensemble, who features as Piter De Vries.

Actors Sharon Duncan-Brewster, in a white halterneck dress, and Babs Olusanmokun, in a purple suit, white shirt and teal trainers, completed the main cast inattendance.

Special guests on the red carpet also included singer Alexandra Burke, comedians and presenters Joel Dommett and Keith Lemon, and US actor, writer and comedian Keegan-Michael Key.
