Especially when we’re suffering from a heavy flow. You know, the kind that gives you horrifying visions of Carrie at the prom or that horrible scene with the elevator in The Shining (if you know, you know).

And while you may have tried an extra large tampon, a giant nighttime pad during the day or doubled up with both tampon and pad, it can still feel like it’s not enough.

But now there’s a menstrual cup that is designed for heavier periods and customers have been left seriously impressed.

The Nixit disc-style menstrual cup is made from soft silicone so it’s flexible and conforms to you. The design even has a double rim for extra leak protection.

You may wonder how a cup can keep you protected from accidental leaks but guess what? Nixit claims that the cups can hold the same amount as four super tampons. That maths is mathing.

If you’re wondering why some people refer to the Nixit cup as a disc, it’s because it doesn’t rely on suction to stay in place and has a circular design.

Some reviews say that the suction element of other cups caused cramps and pains but this design is so painless and comfortable.

‘When I used other cup products, the suction caused such severe cramps that I only used it one time and cried when struggling to get it out,’ one reviewer said.

‘I haven’t had any cramps since switching to the Nixit cup,’ they added.

In other words, the menstrual cup is a gamechanger for periods. And that’s exactly how customers have described the Nixit cup in their glowing reviews.

One satisfied customer said: ‘I forget I’m on my period, I’m so happy with it.”

Another added: ‘The Nixit changed my life. Tampons are never absorbent enough and leaks are frequent. I finally decided to try the Nixit and it. Changed. My. Life. No pains, NO LEAKS!!!’

‘I bit the bullet and tried the Nixit disc on day 2 of my cycle – notoriously a pretty heavy day. Let’s dive in head first…so to speak.

‘Not going to lie, if you’re squeamish, these discs may be a bit of an eye opener, because as you’re trying to get the hang of using the darn thing, to borrow the title of that Daniel Day-Lewis film, there will be blood.

‘After watching a few instructional videos and combing through the leaflet that comes with the disc, I felt pretty confident getting it in would be a cinch. While, sure, getting it into a comfortable position isn’t that hard, provided you have room to pop a bit of a squat in your bathroom, it’s a true art to make sure it’s in the right position in order to catch the blood.

‘Once it was in, I couldn’t feel it and, true to reviews, I didn’t have any cramps.

Nixit menstrual cup
