Queen Letizia of Spain appeared to look to the Princess of Wales for fashion inspiration as she attended the Women’s World Cup Final yesterday.

The glamorous royal, 50, attended the footballing event – in which Spain won 1-0 against the Lionesses – along with her daughter Infanta Sofia, 16, in Sydney.

Letizia, who is married to King Felipe VI, and her youngest showed support for their national team, known as the Rojas (which means red), by wearing eye-catching ruby ensembles.

The mother-of-two looked sophisticated as ever in a cherry blazer with matching trousers, teamed with a chic black top.

This smart two-piece was reminiscent of one worn by Kate, 41, at the Coronation Concert in May.

Created in an alluring shade of scarlet, Letizia’s Hugo Boss design combined a longline blazer with high-waisted flared trousers.

She elevated her outfit with a Carolina Herrera satchel, Latouche knee-high boots and Gold & Roses diamond and ruby earrings.

Meanwhile Kate has worn her red power suit on a number of different occasions – including the Coronation Concert, and the launch of her Shaping Us campaign earlier this year.

And this isn’t the first time that Letizia has taken style notes from Kate.

For a royal engagement with her husband in April, she charmed onlookers in a figure-skimming dress by Lady Pipa, which was a near lookalike for Kate’s beloved bubblegum pink Rixo maxi, showcased in November 2022.

Later, in March, Letizia stepped out donning a vibrant all-red ensemble by Spanish brand Bimani, paired with her favourite Magrit shoes.

Kate had previously rocked head-to-toe colour, in a Polo Ralph Lauren turtleneck and pleated skirt, while attending a charity event raising awareness about addiction.

Meanwhile for a swanky event in 2020, Letizia selected a Felipe Varela emerald green lace midi dress after Kate stunned in a floor-length version by Temperley London at a National Portrait Gallery event in 2017.

The Queen, resplendent in red like the players (known as the Rojas, which means red) celebrates by holding the trophy

Similarly, Letizia appeared to emulate Kate’s elegant aesthetic when she stepped out wearing a floral fit-and-flare dress by Asos.

Kate’s, hailing from Kate Spade New York, featured delicate bloomy motifs and a muted colour palette.

There’s no doubt that this trendsetting duo boast equally impressive style credentials.

Letizia frequently supports Spanish brands, such as Bleis Madrid, Lorenzo Caprile, Zara and Mango.

Meanwhile, Kate flies the flag for British labels, including Alexander McQueen and Catherine Walker; she’s also a huge fan of high street heroes LK Bennett and Reiss.

Yesterday, Queen Letizia and her daughter Infanta Sofia were seen jumping for joy alongside the triumphant Spanish players, following their 1-0 victory against England.

While Spain received the support of their royals, no members of the British Royal Family were present to cheer on the Lionesses.

However, the Prince of Wales and Princess Charlotte posted a video on social media to wish the team good luck ahead of the match.

William said: ‘Lionesses, Lionesses, I want to send you a huge, good luck for tomorrow. We’re sorry we can’t be there in person but we’re so proud of everything you have achieved and the millions you’ve inspired here and around the world.

‘So go out there tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves.’ A beaming Charlotte, added: ‘Good luck Lionesses!’

Prior to kick-off, Letizia said: ‘It’s a joy and it’s exciting to be here to support the Spanish Football Team. They are already champions.’
