Ronda Rousey wants one last shot at the UFC title before hanging up her gloves for good, a source close to the former top wrestler has revealed.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, one of the 36-year-old’s confidants said: ‘She just had a match at Summer Slam and is looking to wind down her time and commitments with the WWE and she is now focusing on potentially making a run to have one last fight in the UFC and compete at UFC 300 when that presents itself sometime next year.’

They added that the California-based martial arts star is ‘at a current crossroads in her life and career as she is looking to see what she might want to do next’ with TV and film roles a big focus.

Over the years she has secured parts in a string of movies, including Charlie’s Angels and Furious 7, and most recently she starred in the reality TV show Stars on Mars.

Rousey has a one-year-old daughter, La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne, with her retired fighter husband Travis Browne

The source said that Rousey ‘enjoyed’ her time on the show and ‘with the likely influx of reality programming coming up in the next few months, she is looking into those opportunities.’

However, one thing that might put her UFC and screen dreams on hold is having another child.

She has a one-year-old daughter, La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne, with her retired fighter husband Travis Browne but another child could be in the pipeline ‘as she would love to try for one more,’ the source said.

They added: ‘She really wants to do it all [career-wise], but in the next few months don’t be caught off guard that she is having another kid because that is something she feels is one of the most important things to happen for her again.’

In terms of her fighting career, Rousey lost to former tag team partner and fellow former MMA star Shayna Baszler at the company’s most recent Premium Live Event, SummerSlam, on August 5.

The ex-UFC champion has had a mixed second spell with the promotion after returning at the Royal Rumble in 2022, winning the SmackDown women’s championship before falling down the card.

She was recently tag team champion alongside Baszler, before Baszler turned on Rousey at the Money in the Bank event at the O2 in London, setting up their feud.

According to GiveMeSport, Rousey had a ‘hard out’ clause in her WWE contract that allowed her to leave her deal at any point, and she’s now no longer with the company.

However, Rousey called time on her MMA career in 2016 after being brutally knocked out by Holly Holm with a head kick and then stopped inside a round by Amanda Nunes.

It was a savage end to one of the most exciting careers and Rousey had thrilled on her way to the top, executing her trademark armbar seemingly at will.

Upon leaving, a range of opportunities outside of the wrestling ring presented themselves to Rousey and in 2016, she made a splash as the cover star of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Unable to give up fighting for good, she also entertained the idea of signing with WWE and made guest appearances before putting pen to paper on a contract in 2017.

She enjoyed a first spell but left after suffering her first defeat at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

Rousey returned to the sport at the start of 2022 for her second stint with the WWE

She ended her reign as champion after being defeated by Flair and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match.

Rousey then left and started a family.

However, she returned to the sport at the start of 2022 for her second stint in the company.

This week she thanked Shayna Baszler for being her role model on Instagram.

A caption accompanying photos of them in the ring, read: ‘@qosbaszler you were the reason I got into this business… Now I got no reason to stay.’

Baszler, Rousey’s real-life friend, will continue with the company and is expected for a big push following her win on Saturday.

She has been presented as a ruthless fighter who shows little mercy to her opponents, and is expected to be elevated up the card to challenge for major titles soon.

She attacked Rousey during their title match against Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan in London at the start of June, walking out on her partner before they lost the match.

They then feuded, with the rivalry concluding at SummerSlam before Rousey’s exit.
