Selena Gomez has shut down speculation that her new song, Single Soon, is about her ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd.<\/p>\n
The Only Murders In The Building actress sent fans into a spin when she released a new track last week ahead of her upcoming album.<\/p>\n
In the hit, the 31-year-old sang about wanting to end a relationship early, with lyrics including: \u2018Should I do it on the phone? Should I leave a little note in the pocket of his coat? <\/p>\n
\u2018Maybe I\u2019ll just disappear. I don\u2019t want to see a tear. And the weekend\u2019s almost here.<\/p>\n
\u2018Might not give a reason why. We both had a lot of fun, time to find another one. Blame it all on feeling young.\u2019<\/p>\n
Since the release, the rumormill has been spinning on whether she was referring to her 10-month romance with The Weeknd \u2013 real name Abel Tesfaye \u2013 before their split in 2017.<\/p>\n

Replying underneath an article by HollywoodLife, Selena simply replied: \u2018Couldn\u2019t be more false.\u2019<\/p>\n
So, that\u2019s that then.<\/p>\n
The former couple first confirmed their romance at the beginning of 2017, following a date night in LA.<\/p>\n
The Weeknd was also by her side as she suffered through health issues, amid her ongoing battle with Lupus, and was credited as one of her \u2018biggest supporters\u2019 as she underwent a kidney transplant later that year.<\/p>\n

However, their romance wasn\u2019t to last and they went their separate ways at the end of 2017, with an insider telling E! News at the time: \u2018It was more of a mutual break up.\u00a0They were distant because of work. It didn\u2019t end in a bad way.\u2019<\/p>\n
Selena dropped Single Soon on Friday and revealed that her third studio album will be on the way very shortly.<\/p>\n
\u2018Y\u2019all have been asking for new music for a while,\u2019 she posted on social media earlier this month. \u2018Since I\u2019m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that\u2019s perfect for the end of summer.\u2019<\/p>\n
Addressing the new music on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, she previously teased that the new offering might be a little more upbeat than her previous material.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019m so used to writing sad-girl songs,\u2019 she told the host. \u2018But I\u2019m ready to have some fun and I think people are going to like it.\u2019<\/p>\n
