A GRANTCHESTER star has switched the ITV detective drama for a BBC show that's altogether different.<\/p>\n
Robson Green announced on social media that he had taken on a presenting gig with the BBC.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 58-year-old actor, who hosts the BBC travelling show titled Robson Green's Weekend Escapes, has revealed that he has added the "finishing touches" to his second series, which will air at the beginning of 2024.<\/p>\n
Taking Instagram, the star posted a black and white picture of himself in a recording booth while holding a script and looking back at the camera with a slight smile.<\/p>\n
Robson penned in the caption: "In between suspending disbelief as a detective in the 1960s quintessentially English village of Grantchester, I'm putting the finishing touches to the new series of Robson Green's Weekend Escapes for the BBC.\u00a0<\/p>\n
"The British countryside is known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

"Immersing ourselves in these surroundings allows us to develop a deeper appreciation for the beauty and wonders of the natural world."<\/p>\n
He added: "Whether it's walking along scenic trails, exploring historical sites, or observing wildlife, the countryside provides an opportunity to marvel at the beauty of our environment and cultivate a sense of awe and gratitude plus, it's just a bloody lovely thing to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n
"It'll be out early 2024, and the new series is a beauty!"\u00a0<\/p>\n
His followers flooded the comments section and expressed their excitement and delight over the news, as one person wrote: "Looking forward to seeing the places you explore in the new series!"\u00a0<\/p>\n

On my list of places to visit."<\/p>\n A fourth followed it with a simple: " Brilliant series."<\/p>\n A fifth commented: "Brilliant news. Once my foot heals from surgery, we are on a mission to try as many if your weekend ideas as we can."<\/p>\n Robson Green's Weekend Escapes first aired on BBC Two back in January.<\/p>\n The show follows the Granchester star as he travels through unused roads in the North East England.\u00a0<\/p>\n The synopsis explains: "With famous friends, he finds well-being and adventure in wonderful places."<\/p>\n In the first series, Robson visits locations such as Northumberland, County Durham, and Teesdale.<\/p>\n An array of famous faces, along with his family, joined the star on the roads, including his Grantchester co-star Tom Brittney, who will be leaving the ITV detective drama series show after season nine.\u00a0<\/p>\n In July, he announced his departure from the show on social media in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n He said: "I've had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years."\u00a0<\/p>\n "I got to solve crimes with my best friend and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n "I'll miss it more than anything.
