In a tribute to the vintage Carrera Panamericana race, Porsche, in collaboration with Porsche Latin America and TAG Heuer, has created two unique 718 Cayman GT4 RS models under the ‘Sonderwunsch’ (Special Request) program.

The vehicles, featuring racing numbers 154 and 152, were first unveiled at the recent Rennsport Reunion 7 at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California. With a design DNA echoing the iconic Porsche 550 Coupé, these cars are a blend of classic aesthetics and modern-day engineering.

At the exterior, the vehicles nod to the past and future, painted in Le Mans Silver Metallic, a color reminiscent of the 356 SL Coupé, the winner of the first 24 Hours of Le Mans. Additionally, meticulous design extends to every aspect of the vehicles, with racing numbers recessed in negative lettering, bordered by a yellow racing number substrate. The window angles, panels of various air intakes and all carbon-weave finish parts share the special paint.

Inside the cabin, the cars feature a black dashboard and door panel trim, contrasted sharply by “Guards Red” leather seats. Adding to the flair is tricolored cross-stitching in the colors of Mexico’s flag along with the TAG Heuer logo, seen on the steering wheel rim and dashboard. It’s also worth noting that “GT4 RS Panamericana Special” is finely milled into the door entry guards, reflecting the cars’ tribute to the historic race.

A distinctive feature in the car with the racing number 154 is the TAG Heuer stopwatch module in the center console, exclusively designed by TAG Heuer for this project. The mechanical three-hand clock expresses a blend of elegance and performance, as it sits next to a stopwatch, aiding the driver in maintaining average speeds, often crucial in rallies.

As for what’s next for these two vehicles, Porsche shared that U.S. actor and racer, Patrick Dempsey, is slated to drive the vehicle numbered 154 on the upcoming Carrera Panamericana stage. While the car numbered 152 is set to go up for auction in early 2024, “for a good cause,” which has yet to be announced at the time of writing.
