<\/p>\nEastEnders\u2019 Jay Brown and Lola Pearce were one of the soap\u2019s most loved couples. <\/p>\n
The pair, played by Jamie Borthwick and Danielle Harold, won over plenty of fans thanks to their relationship on the show. But this year, that all came to a tragic end. <\/p>\n
In emotional scenes aired in May, Lola passed away following a battle with a brain tumour. Since then, Jay has been on a downward spiral.<\/p>\n

The soap alum has turned to drugs and found comfort in Lola lookalike and sex worker Nadine. And in episodes this week, the pair slept together for the first time.<\/p>\n
And things are only set to get worse. So, as things take a dark turn for Jay following Lola\u2019s death, Daily Star is taking a look at their off-screen bond.<\/p>\n

Danielle and Jamie first met on the BBC soap which propelled them into stardom. Jamie joined the cast in 2006 while Danielle followed in 2011.<\/p>\n
Lola made her debut as Billy Mitchell and Julie Perkins\u2019 granddaughter. She stayed in the show until 2015 before taking a brief exit. <\/p>\n
Danielle then returned in April 2019, along with on-screen daughter Lexi Pearce. She remainedon the soap until her character\u2019s death, while Jamie has been a regular on the show for 17 years. <\/p>\n

Lola definitely had her fair share of romances on the soap. When she first joined, she had flings with Fatboy and Jay.<\/p>\n
However, after a one-night stand, she got pregnant by Ben Mitchell. She then confided in Jay, who at the time was dating Abi Branning.<\/p>\n
He ultimately cheated on her when he kissed Lola and helped her during labour. The two then started dating but broke things off amid the Lucy Beale murder storyline.<\/p>\n
However, the stars aligned once more and Jay and Lola rekindled their romance in September 2022. But just a month later, she was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a brain tumour. After finding out it was terminal, Jay and Lola got engaged and tied the knot in January 2023.<\/p>\n

The pair are no stranger to fuelling romance rumours thanks to their adorable snaps and declarations of love for one another. Earlier this year, the two looked loved-up while on a night out at the Broadcast Awards.<\/p>\n
In one snap, Danielle cosied up next to Jamie for a mirror selfie and wrote in the caption: \u201cMy love,\u201d followed by a heart emoji. She also uploaded a video of the pair in a taxi singing along to a song. She wrote: \u201cAlways be our song. I love you @jamie_b10'.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Danielle and Jamie have spoken out about theories that the two are together. The blonde beauty joked: "I\u2019m just going to leave that one out there, because it\u2019s too funny.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt makes me laugh so much, I'd hate to squash it! I always say Jamie is the husband I never wanted or asked for, but nonetheless got," she continued.<\/p>\n

Jamie has also spoke out about his relationship with Danielle. He told Digital Spy: \u201cWe're like brother and sister, and I'm with her every step of the way.\u201d <\/p>\n
He also added to The Sun: \u201cWe have a laugh on set, we know each other inside out, and we know what makes each other laugh. I've got Danielle's back, and she's got my back; we're extremely close. We know when it's time to be serious, we know when it's time to be silly.\u201d<\/p>\n
