However, viewers are keen to know about Meghan Markle and if the former Suits star could be part of the show.

The short answer is no, the Duchess of Sussex won’t be appearing in The Crown.

This is due to the timeline of the show, which is expected to end around Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ wedding in 2005.

Instead, the focus will be on Prince William (Ed McVey) and his blossoming romance with Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) during the pair’s meeting at the University of St Andrew’s.

Morgan has previously spoken about his “20-year-rule” with The Crown and wanting to maintain a “distance” between the stories he’s telling and real-life events.

The award-winning writer previously told The Hollywood Reporter back in 2020: “I just think you get so much more interesting (with time).

The Crown season six teased in Netflix trailer

“Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what their journey is or how it will end.

“One wishes some happiness, but I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago.

“I sort of have in my head a 20-year rule. That is enough time and enough distance to really understand something, to understand its role, to understand its position, to understand its relevance.”

Despite Meghan not being part of the show, she and Prince Harry are said to be helping Netflix fix The Crown’s “credibility issue”.
