Davina was in great spirits as she prepared to host the star-studded event which celebrates the work by dedicated healthcare workers and volunteers.
The ceremony, sponsored by the National Lottery and partnership with NHS Charities Together, will see workers honoured in several categories including including Best Doctor, Best Midwife and Best Team.
The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Awards is in its sixth year, though the 2023 ceremony is all the more special as the NHS celebrates its 75th anniversary.
Davina said of the awards: ‘I’m enormously proud to host these awards, which recognise some of the most amazing people on the planet. It’s a privilege to meet these everyday heroes and celebrate their truly inspirational stories.’
This year’s awards were launched by boxer and long-term supporter Anthony Joshua, who said of the event: ‘It’s my pleasure to launch this year’s awards. It was truly humbling at last year’s ceremony to hear the incredible stories of heroism that play out across the UK.
‘I was blown away by the people I met. To me, they are the real stars. Our health heroes are true fighters. The past few years have been incredibly hard for those working on the front line. They’ve steered us through the coronavirus pandemic while continuing to try to maintain all other services.
‘Our NHS is made up of people from all different backgrounds who come together to selflessly help others. They put the great into Great Britain. They don’t do it for the money or for the thanks. They are not the sort to put themselves in the spotlight, so this is why The Sun needs YOU to nominate your healthcare hero.’
The 2023 ceremony will see a starry guestlist with the likes of Emily Atack, Zara McDermott, Olivia Attwood and Piers Morgan walking the red carpet before supporting the well-deserved nominees.

The ceremony is set to air on Channel 4 and All 4 this Sunday 24 September at 6.30pm.
It comes after Davina gave a comprehensive insight into the disciplined health regime that helped her develop the physique of someone half her age.
The mother-of-three is in the shape of her life after devoting herself to ritualistic daily workouts – but its not your average hour in a local gym.
While many are content to dip a cautious toe into the increasingly popular world of health and fitness, Davina has embraced it as a full-time lifestyle choice that would leave most people exhausted – and searching for the nearest air freshener.
Speaking to The Mirror, the presenter revealed she sets her alarm for 6:15am each day and immediately pulls on her Lycra workout gear, because it motivates her to exercise, even when she doesn’t want to.
‘I just put on a workout outfit because it means that I’m always ready,’ she said. ‘If I start my day in civvies I am not going to work out, it’s never going to happen.’
After hopping out of bed at the crack of dawn Davina hits the shower, before applying a variety of gels and patches – prescribed by her doctor to treat issues such as ‘brain fog and libido.’
Then comes breakfast, but bacon, eggs and a piping hot cup of coffee are most definitely not on the menu for the health conscious star.
‘I have the powdered bovine collagen,’ she admitted. ‘I’d probably have granola and milk for breakfast, but sometimes, if I’m naughty, I’ll do a crumpet.’

Unfortunately the granola comes with some potentially embarrassing consequences – so anyone considering a similar breakfast should probably give lifts and crowded rooms a wide berth.
She warned: ‘If you’re new to it, just make sure you’re around friends because it’s very, very farty. It’s just got so much fibre in.’
After breakfast comes a brisk dog walk with family pooch Bo a regular presence on her Instagram account – but it comes with the added burden of weighted gloves
‘I use them for walks, for all my exercise – even if I’m using dumbbells, I’ll still wear them,’ she said. ‘They’re just half a kilogram, but you’ll feel it. They’re the single greatest piece of kit I’ve ever used.’
The presenter also restructures her daily workouts on a regular basis, meaning she’s never doing the same routine for too long – a tactic that ‘challenges and shocks’ the body.
