Love Island's Jess Harding has taken a brutal swipe at her ex boyfriend Sammy Root after calling it quits on their relationship three months after they won the hit ITV show.
The couple met in the Love Island villa and after a turbulent journey on the show, they became the favourite couple and took home the winning title.
However, on Tuesday, a source claimed to the Daily Mail that "Jess realised they are better off as friends”, beforeSammy took to social media soon after to speak about the news and described the break-up as a complete “shock.”
However, before his statement, eagle-eyed fans spotted that Jess had removed pinned posts of her and Sammy and deleted him from her Story highlights.
Sammy took to his Instagram stories and wrote: “Hi guys, I thought I would come online to address today's news about me and Jess.
“Yes we had a private conversation regarding our relationship but this was left up in the air as Jess is still away and we haven't had a chance to speak in person.
“For me to then see today via the media that we had officially broken up came as a total shock.”
Sammy then continued: “To be totally clear – I at least wanted a face to face conversation to see if our relationship could be saved and felt this would be the respectful way forward.”
“We had the most incredible experience winning Love Island and I genuinely saw a future with Jess.”
He then concluded his post by writing: “I was committed and respectful to our relationship. Unfortunately things don't always work out the way you'd hoped.
“Despite how this has all played out today. I think Jess is an amazing woman and genuinely wish her all the best."
Jess has been away since the weekend with her friend in Ibiza and has been taking to instagram to share pictures in a bikini and having drinks at a night club.
In one snap Jess could be seen lounging on a beach club sunbed, posing up a storm in a striking black bikini. She captioned the sultry post, "Reserved."
Jess and Sammy’s last public appearance was at The Sun's Who Cares Wins awards over a week ago. Jess wore a black and silver dress with a split up one side and posted a photo to Instagram where she was stood on her own, without Sammy.
