Strictly: Adam Thomas makes speech as he leaves the show
Adam Thomas’ journey on Strictly Come Dancing has come to an end, after months of bravely battling agonising rheumatoid arthritis – and now his wife Caroline has spoken out.
Responding to a gushing message by the 35-year-old’s pro partner Luba Mushtuk telling him he was her “forever” winner, she chimed in with the words “My heart”, adding tearful and broken-hearted emojis alongside her comment.
After sharing a photo of herself and Caroline embracing and saying she’d “fallen in love” with not just Adam but his family too, Luba had declared: “The best part of it all … is THEM.”
She continued: “It’s not about winning but about getting out there and giving your best, and I believe @adamthomas21 and I did that. So many ups and downs we had each day and we got through it together,” she reminisced.
“I am so proud of us and so proud of you and the progress that you’ve made @adamthomas21 as a dancer, contender and your personal growth.” (sic)

Luba went on to tell him: “Thank you for the most magical time I have ever had on the show and for being the best partner in crime I could ask for.
“Biggest thank you is for making me part of your beautiful family that I fell in love with… as that’s the best part of it all … and …huge thanks to this amazing woman @carolinethomas23, who has been there for both of us each step of the way… Literally you are the best!!!” (sic)
Referring to the pair’s nine-year-old son Teddy, who recently won a part on Waterloo Road alongside his famous dad as the character Tommy, and five-year-old daughter Elsie, Luba added that she “loved” them “to bits”.
“I’m coming soon for homework and school run,” she vowed maternally, before turning her attention back to Adam and describing him as a “winner” regardless of the results.

“You @adamthomas21 are MY forever winner in life and that’s much more important than any trophy,” she declared.
“Dancing with you will definitely be the part that I will miss the most but I’m sure we will dance again. I love you, I will always be here for you. And I will always have your back.” (sic)
That passionate speech triggered a tearful Caroline to respond with her message of “My heart!”, while Adam will now be able to rest his aching bones after braving gruelling rehearsals and shows despite having arthritis.
The Waterloo Road actor’s ordeal began in January, with painful swelling cropping up in his knees, wrists, ankles, fingers and toes.
After a series of blood tests, he was given a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis – something which the shocked star had believed only happened “later on in life”.
However, unlike osteoarthritis, the average age of onset for the rheumatoid variety is between 25 and 45 years old, according to the Medical News Today website.
It can start when the body’s immune system becomes overactive and attacks healthy cells in the body, causing pain and inflammation.
However, Adam has vowed to get his condition “under control”, while he told Tess Daly last night that he was grateful for the seven weeks he’d been able to spend on Strictly.
“Seven incredible weeks, what a journey it’s been. I honestly thought I was leaving in week two!” he quipped.
“I came here to learn how to dance and I’ve learned so much more about myself. The confidence and self-belief I now have in myself, it’s out of this world,” he assured her.
