Vito Coppola kisses Ellie Leach on Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing stars Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola have addressed rumours about their relationship after reports that the pair might be more than friends.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Coronation Street actress Ellie reportedly blushed as she was quizzed on the nature of her connection with her BBC co-star.

The pair have been at the centre of speculation after sharing a series of triumphant kisses and gushing about one another on social media.

However, claiming that she and the Italian dancer are “friends”, she insisted: “It was only a kiss on the cheek.

“He gives me a kiss on the cheek every Saturday! It was definitely on the cheek.”

Despite their fiery chemistry, Vito went on to explain that he’s just “a very, very warm person”.

“I just like to hug” he exclaimed. “But no, we’re a good team.”

Ellie continued: “We really, really get along and we have a lovely friendship. I hope we can continue that.

“We’ve got a really good relationship where we kind of know what the other needs.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Vito gushed about working with Ellie, revealing that it was her lack of dance experience that was so appealing to him.

“I love working with her,” he said. “It’s better to dance with people who have never done it before because you start with a white page. She never did any sports, any movement, any dancing. I say, ‘Perfect!’.”

Meanwhile, Ellie admitted that Vito’s incredible support has really allowed her self-belief to flourish throughout the course of the show.

She gushed: “Every single day he says to me, ‘I believe in you… You can do this… I know you can… Just believe in yourself.” That’s probably the biggest thing he’s taught me aside from dancing. He’s like, ‘I believe in you, and you just need to believe in yourself.’”

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday at 6:40pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
