070 Shake exists in her own ether, unbothered by the constraints of genre and categorization, infusing her music with influences from hip-hop, electronic and alternative styles. In her first solo release of the year entitled “Black Dress”, Shake brings it all to the table.
Lifted off her upcoming album, Shake does what she does best on “Black Dress”: layering her distinct vocals atop an ethereal production to deliver a cohesive and captivating listening experience. “Even when it’s dark out / I still can see your bone structure / I can see the light in you / Even when it’s dark out,” she croons in the chorus.
She tapped longtime collaborator Dave Hamelin to spearhead the visual storytelling for “Black Dress”, which sees Shake posted up with her parachute in a post-apocalyptic world. She floats majestically throughout the landscape until it all goes up in flames. Stream the music video in full above.
Shake teased “Black Dress” throughout her festival run earlier this year, catalyzing substantial hype leading up to its release; her fans took to her most recent Instagram post – from over a year ago – to flood the comments with support. She’s also been busy performing as direct support to Coldplay on their current world tour.
“Black Dress” is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more updates on her forthcoming project.
