Just when we thought we couldn’t love Alison Hammond any more, and she goes and does this.
The This Morning star, 48, is apparently a huge Kylie Minogue fan.
A handful of hearts were going Padam Padam tonight at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire when the 55-year-old Spinning Around hitmaker took to the stage for an intimate gig.
While Alison wore a fabulous mucky green leather jacket for the occasion, she kept her Kylie merchandise – a T-shirt with the star emblazoned on its front – to wave at the Australian icon from her seat.
Yes, Alison really is that much of a fangirl. One video posted on X, formerly Twitter, showed the presenter seemingly desperately trying to catch the star’s gaze from the left hand side of the venue by flapping around her merch.
But Alison wasn’t alone in her excitement, as the pop icon attracted a star-studded audience including the likes of Graham Norton, Rylan Clarke, Ashley Roberts, Louise Redknapp, Kimberly Walsh, Michelle Visage and Sandro Farmhouse.
During her show this evening, Kylie performed new songs from Tension as well as some of her smash hits including Spinning Around, In Your Eyes, A Night Like This, and Wow.
Welling up after the her performance of her new single Tension, Kylie told the audience ‘singing a new song and the people you made it with here tonight… It can get emotional.’
She also noted the significance of the venue, telling the crowd she’d last performed there in 1998.
The 2000-person crowd was made up of exclusively O2 and Virgin Media broadband customers.
We’re not surprised she attracted such a fine array of humans to her gig tonight, because Kylie is (obviously) a legend and her comeback has been really quite impressive.
Having even got a mention in the House of Commons, her party banger Padam, Padam rocketed to the top of the charts on its release in May.
Now, her album Tension, released on Friday, is being scrutinised by the purveyors of pop, and guess what? It’s been heralded as one of the star’s best albums yet.
