Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson 'heartbroken' as Bray Wyatt dies day after Terry Funk

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has hailed Bray Wyatt as a ‘unique, cool and rare character’ after his tragic death.

The WWE legend has paid tribute to Wyatt, who died on Thursday aged 36, and admitted he has been left devastated by the news just one day after WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk died aged 39.

In an emotional social media post, The Rock wrote: ‘Im heartbroken over the news of Bray Wyatt’s passing. Always had tremendous respect and love for him and the Rotunda family.

‘Loved his presence, promos, in ring work and connection with @wwe universe. Very unique, cool and rare character, which is hard to create in our crazy world of pro wrestling.

He added: ‘My love, light, strength & mana to the Rotunda family and Funk family during this tough, heartbreaking time.’

The Rock also shared a photo of himself and Wyatt standing across the ring from each other, crediting the late star with the role he played in their exchanges.

He added: ‘As always, “thank you for the house” #ohana’

News of Wyatt’s death was confirmed by WWE boss Triple H on Thursday night as he revealed the former world champion’s father Mike Rotunda had been in touch.

He wrote: ‘Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today.

‘Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.’

During his time in WWE, Wyatt held the WWE and Universal Championships, as well as both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Titles with Matt Hardy, Randy Orton and Luke Harper.
