Stephen Webb will be gliding onto our TV screens next year as they are the latest star to sign up for Dancing on Ice.
The Gogglebox star was announced less than an hour after Made In Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire, who has also joined the contestant line-up.
The casting was revealed during an episode of Lorraine, with the host sharing the news after entering the studio through a cloud of fake snow.
Speaking about his inclusion, an excited and nervous Stephen said: ‘The last time I was on the ice I think I was 14 (years old) so almost 40 years ago.
‘I have been back on the ice since just for a quick spin around, I didn’t fall over so that was a good thing.’
Acknowledging his previous critique of contestants, Stephen added: ‘I’ve got a new appreciation for skating. I can see how truly difficult it is. From the comfort of my sofa I was probably a little too judgy, I didn’t realise how hard it is!’
His Dancing on Ice journey comes just after he quit Gogglebox following a decade on the series.
The nation fell in love with the original star, who gave us incredible one-liners and sarcastic quips.
He appeared on the programme with his husband, Daniel Lustig-Webb, but they left to pursue other opportunities – well Stephen certainly didn’t waste any time doing exactly that!
Stephen said in a statement: ‘We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.
‘We would both like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show.’
As well as Dancing on Ice, Stephen, who has recently shown off an incredible body transformation, has also signed up for next year’s London Marathon!
With two big challenges in his near future, luckily Stephen is getting some help. He revealed to Lorraine that Joey Essex, who was a finalist in last year’s series, has been giving him some guidance and tips.
Amber Davies, Ricky Hatton, Hannah Spearritt, Greg Rutherford, and Claire Sweeney make up the rest of the line-up so far.
Dancing On Ice will return to ITV in 2024. Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1.
