A Gogglebox star who’s been on the show for a decade has quit with his partner.

In a statement, it was confirmed that Stephen Webb and Daniel Lustig-Webb had decided to step away from the Channel 4 programme.

‘After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show,’ said show creators Studio Lambert and Channel 4.

‘As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years.

‘We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects.’

Stephen first joined Gogglebox as one of the original stars in 2013 for season one, with his former partner Christopher Steed.

After Christopher left the series in 2017, Stephen’s mother Pat Webb took his place from series 10 to 12.

Daniel has joined Stephen since series 13, appearing on Gogglebox from 2019.

Stephen and Daniel addressed their departure from the programme in identical statements posted on Instagram, which read: ‘After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox.

‘We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.

‘We would both like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show.

‘We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family as we call them and of course the fans, thank you for all of your love & support over the years.’

In the caption of his post, Stephen wrote: ‘After an incredible 10 years…. ❤️,’ while Daniel added: ‘What a ride it’s been. Big love ❤️.’

In addition to their statements, the couple also released a video with the fans in mind, ‘just to say thank you for all your love and support over the years’.

‘It really has meant a lot,’ Stephen continued. ‘We just wanted to do this video just to say thank you to you guys.’

Daniel blew a kiss at the camera, before his partner stressed that if viewers get ‘withdrawal symptoms’, then ‘we are available on Netflix’.

Fans were also urged to visit their salon for a haircut, as Stephen concluded: ‘It’s been an absolute ride and an absolute pleasure, but don’t forget – Channel 4, 9 o’clock, on a Friday, Gogglebox!’

As devsatated fans expressed their upset over Stephen and Daniel leaving, several stars of Gogglebox also wished them well.

‘Gonna miss you both 😭😭💗💗,’ wrote Izzi Warner, as Simon Minty added: ‘So sorry to hear this, Jane and I will miss you.

‘Watching how you did it was super helpful to us newbies. And I will miss your quips about my hair! 😂😍 Best of luck with whatever you do next. Thank you for all the joy and laughter. X.’

The new series of Gogglebox launches on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
