Official Trailer of ‘Persona 3 Reload’ Previews Villain Backstory and Nostalgic Battle UI

ATLUS has dropped both official English and Japanese dubbed trailers for the upcoming remake of the Persona 3 RPG video game: Persona 3 Reload. The original game was first launched in Japan in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, followed by a North American release in 2007, since then, the game received a number of iterations and re-releases as well.

According to the trailer, although the general premise and characters remain faithful to the original game, a few improvements have definitely been made. This includes a never-before-seen backstory for the main antagonist, Strega, all-new battle mechanics, and linked episode footage.

Despite the change changes, Persona 3 Reload will incorporate a battle interface that is similar to the original game’s design. In the 2006 PS2 game, the side profile avatars for the four playable characters are lined up vertically on the right side of the screen — a design that’s no longer in use in newer releases like Persona 5 and its spinoffs. In the trailer, ATLUS and P Studio have brought back this nostalgic look for battle sequences, which have been improved and optimized for a 16:9 screen ratio.

Open for pre-order now, Persona 3 Reload is scheduled to release on February 2, 2024, and will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, as well as PC via Windows and Steam. Keep an eye out for more updates on the Persona 3 Reload official website.
