In line with URWERK’s sci-fi-centric design language, the independent horologer has prepared a spectacle-worthy timepiece for this year’s Only Watch auction.
Exuding steampunk meets lightsaber vibes, the one-off novelty comes with a fitting name — Space-Time Blade. Measuring 167cm tall, the time-teller comes encased in a glass capsule and set on a bronze pedestal.
Crafted by Dalibor Farny, each of the eight displays inside is individually illuminated to reveal a number digit. The piece offers six different settings, which include the standard hour, minutes, and seconds to the distance traveled based on Earth’s rotation. In the official press release, URWERK confirms that the Space-Time Blade is the first piece of an upcoming series, soon to be unveiled in 2024.
Estimated for 45,000 – 80,000 CHF (approximately $51,311 – $91,219 USD), the Space-Time Blade will go under the hammer at Only Watch on November 5, 2023. Read more about the piece on its designated webpage, or view the full lineup of the biennial charity auction here.
Elsewhere in watches, Grand Seiko’s two new GMT watches offer a poetic escape to the sky.
