Celebrations launches tubs filled with only Bounty after axing choc last year

Tubs of Celebrations are getting a makeover – and it's certainly a controversial one. The much-loved assortment of chocolates are about to look very different as all but one flavour will be removed.

No, we're not getting a tub full of the Malteaser Teaser. Celebrations is introducing a tub of just Bounty bars – which are arguably one of the least favourites.

Mars, the company behind Celebrations, is offering choc fans a limited edition version of the wrapped treats in the form of the 'Bounty Centrepiece'. This style of tub will only feature the coconut-based chocolate and none of the more popular delights.

The shock move comes after a survey regarding peoples' opinions of Celebrations – and their least favourite addition. Of course, the results were not surprising as 39% of partaking Brits voted to cull Bounty bars from the Celebration tub. The poll, which asked 2,000 people, was conducted last year and found 18% of Brits would become 'irritated' if they were faced with only the coconut chocolates in tub.

And apparently, 58% admitted that having nothing but Bounty's left would ignite a family feud. So why have Mars decided to launch a Bounty bar only tub? Well, not everyone in the 2022 study was such a coconut hater. The survey exposed that there are some Bounty lovers among us, as 18% of participants said Bounty bars were their favourite out of the tub. Even more shocking, 20% admitted that they keep their love affair with a Bounty a secret.

After Mars scrapped the Bounty out of the tin last year, it decided to make up for their 'mistake' (to some) and introduced the Bounty Centrepiece.

Kerry Cavanaugh, business unit director at Mars Wrigley UK, said: "Last year, Bounty lovers made their voices heard and it’s time we gave something back. We hope the Bounty Centrepiece will help ease the pain we caused when we removed Bounty last year.

"We’re excited to see how these tubs are received… are you a Bounty lover, or a hater?!"

There will only be 300,000 of the limited edition Bounty-only tubs and stocked across 304 Tesco stores up and down the UK. They can be purchased between September 27 to December 13. And a celebratory van will be popping by selected stores between October 13 and 15.

Hurrah?
