Channel 4 studios forced to evacuate as fire alarm causes chaos

Krishnan Guru-Murthy BLASTS Labour MP over election results

Those working at the Channel 4 studio in Leeds this evening seemed to be interrupted by a fire alarm.

Taking to Twitter, presenter Cathy Newman informed people of the situation along with an image of the fire services.

She wrote: “I’m afraid we’ve had to evacuate the Leeds @Channel4News studio because of a fire alarm.

“My Co-presenter @krishgm is dancing solo right now.”

Although it’s not yet been confirmed on the extent of the fire, the presenter gave an update shortly afterwards.

Posting a snap of someone walking in a Hi-Vis, Cathy added: “Cameraman Sam has inevitably been renamed Fireman Sam after he instructed us all to leave the building.”

As Cathy made a reference to Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s upcoming debut on Strictly Come Dancing, it wasn’t long before people started to comment on his upcoming appearance.

LadyHellsBells added: “Playlist for songs Krishnan is dancing to writes itself.”

@Edi_BMWC2013 tweeted: “Wow… hope he can handle it! Cool as a cucumber!”

Krishnan Guru-Murthy is one of the 15 stars taking part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 53-year-old was the fourth contestant announced alongside the likes of Les Dennis, Adam Thomas, Amanda Abbington, Angela Rippon and Zara McDermott.

Speaking about appearing on the show, Krishnan said: “I’m surprised, delighted and slightly confused to find myself taking part in Strictly on the basis of ‘you only live once!’

“I can’t wait to start learning to dance, but I am slightly worried about my general decrepitude.

“I know I’m going to love it and have a brilliant time and just hope I’m not the only one enjoying my participation.”

Also competing this year will be Annabel Croft, Nigel Harman, Bobby Brazier and Jody Cundy.

Ellie Leach, Nikita Kanda, Layton Williams, Angela Scanlon and Eddie Kadi are all also competing.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in autumn 2023 with further details about the air date and start time to be confirmed.
