CNN Is Back On Track After Turmoil, Says Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper believes the storm has passed at CNN.

Cooper spoke with People and admitted that the firing of network head Jeff Zucker, the dismissal of pundit Chris Cuomo, the resignation of news leader Chris Licht, the shuttering of the short-lived CNN+, and the departure of staffers like host Don Lemon created a situation where “morale was hurt by all the drama, and that’s unfortunate. But I think things feel like they are back on track.”

Cooper has been with the news and opinion network for two decades. He currently hosts “Anderson Cooper 360.”

CNN has now installed Mark Thompson as president beginning Oct. 9, and Cooper is encouraged by the new leadership.

“He sounds great,” said Cooper.

Mostly, he is grateful that things are not focused on the latest upheaval.

“It’s never great to be in a place where you read the paper in the morning and there are stories about where you’re working,” said Cooper.
