EastEnders fans have come to expect the unexpected following the return of Cindy Beale, but they have been stunned by a second character coming back from the dead.
The popular character Fatboy Chubb, played by Ricky Norwood, has returned to the soap for a one-off special flashback episode.
Cindy Beale appeared back in Alberty Square on Monday, 28 August, and came face to face with George Knight, who knows her as Rose.
During tonight's episode, viewers will finally find out the truth as Cindy attempts to explain to George why she left him and their daughters behind.
As part of that, the soap has included flashback scenes to years ago, showing Cindy leaving George, after finding out about the death of her daughter, Lucy.
The scenes also show Cindy watching her ex-husband Ian from afar, showing that she has apparently been around all along.
At one point, cheeky Fatboy is seen annoying Cindy, asking for the time.
Fans who have already watched the episode on BBC iPlayer, have shared their pure shock at seeing the soap legend pop up.
One person tweeted: "I gasped when I saw Fatboy. Such a great character #EastEnders."
With another saying: "That Fatboy jumpscare omg, never expected that. Bring him baaaack #Eastenders."
Someone else wrote: "Fatboy and Cindy both in the same 2023 episode of #EastEnders. I can't handle this! @bbceastenders."
Fatboy is assumed to have died during a dark Christmas storyline in 2015, where Ronnie Mitchell ordered a hit on Vincent Hubbard.
However, poor Fatboy got stuck in the crossfire, and after a case of mistaken identity, he was thought to be brutally killed.
A distressing scene showed Vincent opening up the boot of a crushed car to see Fatboy's remains inside, but viewers never got to see his body.
Now fans of the soap have been calling for the return of Fatboy, Dot Cotton's best friend, in the hope he's not dead after all.
The Cindy Beale drama is set to continue as she settles back into life in Walford.
She returned with a bang, as she ended up in a slapping match with her arch nemesis, Kathy Beale, as they clashed once again.
