Nigel Farage’s “secret girlfriend” is flying out to support him on I'm A Celebrity, in a move that is set to finally confirm their six-year relationship.
The former Brexit campaigner, 59, has been linked to French politician Laure Ferrari, 44, since 2017 but the pair have never gone public with their romance.
But it is understood Laure is on ITV's list of 'Friends and Family' members heading to Brisbane airport this week.
The guests then stay in a hotel on the Gold Coast and Laure would be invited to meet Nigel on the jungle bridge at the end of the show when he is evicted.
A source close to Nigel confirmed the news and said: “Nigel and Laure have been linked for a number of years and she has been seen at his home in Chelsea, giving the impression they are living together. But there has never been any official confirmation.
“Nigel has never confirmed the relationship but there was a feeling amongst his team and by Laure that now is the time to open that door. If he is to get back into mainstream politics which is his desire he may need to be more open and transparent."
Last year disgraced former Health Secretary Matt Hancock took the big step of inviting his controversial girlfriend Gina Coladangelo out to Australia after their affair.
Gina even spoke at the airport in support of Matt, and he went on to make the final of the series.
Laure was first pictured in February 2017 at Farage’s £4 million Georgian home. At the time he dismissed the idea of a relationship as “crackers” as he had just announced the separation from his wife of 18 years, Kirsten.
Laure, who is 15 years Nigel's junior, met the politician ten years earlier in 2007 when she was 28. He then appointed her as a parliamentary assistant and she was then promoted and was made PR director of Nigel's parliamentary group Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy.
A spokesman for Nigel declined to comment on the story.
The news comes as a war of words has broken out between Nigel's lawyers and ITV – with a legal letter being sent to the channel over their decision to air naked footage of the wannabe MP in the shower.
According to a new report, furious aides of former Brexit campaigner Farage claim there is an "indecency clause" in his contract which bans the channel from showing footage of him nude.
On Monday night's show, Nigel's bottom was seen by millions of viewers as he took a jungle shower, the moment also surprised fellow campmate Josie Gibson who had been walking past at the time. When it happened a second time, when he was in the bath a few days later, his lawyer claimed the agreement had been broken.
They have now sent a letter of complaint to ITV, but in response sources at the channel told the Mail On Sunday no such clause exists and the footage is not in breach of his contract. A source close to 59-year-old Nigel was quoted as saying: "The legal team were not exactly over the moon about the naked scenes being shown. It simply broke the clause in the contract.
"Nigel will be surprised at the incredible reaction to it when he comes out because, as always, he is just being himself in the jungle. Who knows – maybe he could even do a calendar next year."
Both ITV and the spokesman for Nigel have so far declined to comment officially on the letter.
But ITV sources deny the clause exists and some staff on the show are said to be unhappy at the developments. Nigel was seen as a controversial pick for the jungle, particularly given his fee being around £1 million.
The first time Nigel was seen on screen naked he was also by by camp mate Josie Gibson. Speaking down under, Josie said: "Freaking hell! I wasn’t expecting to see Nigel Farage’s bottom so soon! But, I’ve seen worse. No, I haven’t. I haven’t! Fair play to him. He’s not shy, he just gets on in there. At least he’s clean."
A few days later Danielle Harold also got a glimpse of Nigel's bottom and described it as "the weirdest feeling". Whilst Nigel, had a bath, the actor walked past and caught sight of his bare bottom as he got out of the tub and said to herself: "That’s a sight… for sore eyes."
