NCIS star looks recognizable in early role in classic 90s sitcom

Pauley Perrette terrified by home intruders only to discover there was a gig across street

She became well-known for jet-black hair and a goth like appearance during her tenure on CBS’s NCIS, but prior to landing the role of Abby Sciuto, Pauley Perrette had a very different look in an early role.

Images of Perrette appearing in an episode of Frasier from 1997 have made the rounds online, showing her portraying a waitress at the series’ Cafe Nervosa.

In one image on Before the Breakout on Tumblr, she can be seen waiting on the show’s lead characters, Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) and Niles Crane (David Hyde Pierce).

In the photo, Perrette sports a lighter hair color similar to her natural blonde, and also wears it much shorter.

A second image on Reddit shows her in a small group of four characters, smiling and holding up what looks like a piece of paper.

The images are from the season four episode Three Dates and Breakup.

Since her time on NCIS came to an end in 2018, Perrette has changed her look dramatically, and now sports rainbow colored hair, featuring shades of yellow, red, orange and green in recent images posted to her Instagram account.

Since her time on the drama series, she went on to star in one season of the comedy series Broke, though it was cancelled after 13 episodes.

She announced her retirement from acting shortly after on her X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

Perrette’s decision to leave NCIS stunned fans at the time, but The Wrap reported that same year that tensions had escalated between her and co-star Mark Harmon, who had been at odds ever since his dog bit a crew member on set in 2016.

Harmon had continued to bring the dog, and Perrette objected, leading to their dispute. Things had allegedly gotten so bad between them that they even wound up shooting their scenes on separate days, and anytime their characters appeared on screen together was through editing.

Perrette later took to social media in 2019 to further remind fans she was never going to come back to the show because of Harmon.

“NO I AM NOT COMING BACK! EVER! (Please stop asking?) I am terrified of Harmon and him attacking me. I have nightmares about it,” she shared at the time.
