Saturday Kitchen: Rick Stein chases dog out of the kitchen

As usual, Matt Tebbutt introduced a clip of Rick Stein’s adventures from one of his previous programmes.

In the clip shown on Saturday Kitchen, Rick was seen travelling to Blenheim Palace where he was hosting a banquet masterclass.

Leaving Padstow behind, the chef rocked up at the palace with his dog Chalky but things didn’t quite go to plan.

Rick admitted he was “nervous” about leading the masterclass, which would see him cook a seafood banquet for 100 people.

As his green van pulled up at the palace, Rick was heard warning Chalky: “Don’t go on the lawn,” before he called out for some help.

Two men arrived to help him move fresh fish into the kitchen as he asked them to keep an eye on his dog.

It wasn’t long before Chalky was causing chaos as when Rick turned around, the dog had followed him into the kitchen.

“Hey, get out! Out! Out!” Rick shouted at the dog as he chased him back outside.

Once outside, he put Chalky back into the van and said he would have to stay inside all day.

“A place like Blenheim has struct rules,” he explained. “You can’t have dogs running over the Duke’s lawns.”

But as Rick thought Chalky was safely inside the van, the dog was seen hopping out of the window and onto the grass.

Thankfully it was the last time Chalky was seen ignoring the rules as Rick was able to get on with leading his masterclass.

Saturday Kitchen viewers were tickled by the clip as @macaroni_pie posted on Twitter: “Why take your offing dog in the first place #saturdaykitchen.”

@magso5 added: “Should have left the dog at home #saturdaykitchen,” as @mr_chambers_ joked: “Chalkie doesn’t give a s**t… #saturdaykitchen.”

Saturday Kitchen airs Saturday on BBC One at 10am.
