Roman Kemp plea to government over mental health support
Good Morning Britain fans have praised Roman Kemp for urging the government to offer more mental health support in schools across the country.
The radio host wrote a letter to parliament last week calling for action as he opened up about his own struggles with mental health.
Roman told hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls he’s asked for a change in target from the government who have said they’ll place support teams in 36 percent of schools.
Hoping to move the target to a greater amount, the 30-year-old confessed he wants that figure to be 100 percent.
Speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, he said: “To say to someone 36 percent of schools can receive that [help] where’s the hope there? There’s no hope.

“They haven’t responded to me directly but they’ve come back and they’ve gone, ‘We’ve moved it, it might go to 50 percent. We’ll place mental health support teams in 50 per ent of schools by 2025’.
“My question would then be if that is a 50/50 chance that your child is going to receive proper mental health care, a space for them to go to if they’re feeling anxiety depression or suicidal thoughts.
“If you had two children in front of you and each of them is saying that they are feeling this way, how do you decide who is going to get the help?”
He told the two hosts it didn’t make sense for the target to move from only 36 percent to 50 percent as he believes it should’ve been raised to 100 percent.
