Dan Walker has declared he ‘might actually be in love’ after stripping off during a road trip with Helen Skelton.
The former Strictly Come Dancing stars are currently fronting the series Dan and Helen’s Pennine Adventure, which sees them take on Britain’s first long-distance trail, which spans 268 miles and reaching from Derbyshire to the Scottish Borders.
Traveling from near Dan’s home in Sheffield to Helen’s in Cumbria, they’ve ditched the guidebooks over the four-part series and turned to social media for suggestions on what to do along the way.
In the most recent episode, the pair went from Malham in the heart of the Dales to The Tan Hill Inn, which is famous for being the highest pub in Britain by altitude.
Along the way, the pair stopped for a picnic in the grounds of Pendragon Castle before deciding to try some wild swimming, both stripping down to their bathing suits before wading into the chilly water.
But after telling her long-time friend in a previous episode she loved him, it seems Dan’s attention was elsewhere as he later declared his fondness for another – a horse called Roger.
Following a ride after their swim, Dan, 46, joked that his co-presenter could be replaced, and he continue with the show without her, suggesting he could front a programme titled ‘Dan’s & Roger’s Pennine Adventure’.
The hose clearly left a lasting impression on the presenter, as he told Helen: ‘I didn’t think I’d feel this way about Roger. I might actually be in love with him.’
Caught off guard, Helen, 40, turned to the cameras and looked quite shocked at the admission, just as the credits began rolling.
Earlier this week it was revealed the Countryfile presenter had officially divorced her ex Richie Myler after they announced their separation 16 months ago.
Helen and the England and Leeds Rhinos rugby star, 33, ended their decade-long marriage last year.
Following their split, he welcomed a baby with his new partner Stephanie Thirkill, 32 – who is also the daughter his club’s president.
Dan & Helen’s Pennine Adventure is streaming on Channel 5.
