Ferrari Launches Non-Competitive Track Example of Le Mans-Winning 499P

Ferrari has unveiled the exclusive 499P Modificata, a non-competitive track-only vehicle based on its Le Mans-Winning 499P. While it is inspired by the winning hypercar, Ferrari has noted that it is on its own merit a substantial modification that offers an elevated track and driving experience to consumers.

Unlike traditional models, this vehicle transitions directly from a racing car, unbounded by FIA WEC technical regulations, allowing for a slew of enhancements aimed at revving up the driving thrill while making performance more accessible.

Key technical upgrades include the electric axle and four-wheel drive operable at low speeds, a “Push to Pass” feature rendering an extra 120 kW power boost, Pirelli-specific tyres and a thorough recalibration of the suspension setup, electronic controllers and engine mappings.

The cockpit of the 499P Modificata mirrors that of the 499P, a nod to Ferrari’s profound racing lineage, making the 499P Modificata the apex of closed-wheel cars proposed for non-competitive track use.

At the core of the 499P Modificata lies a hybrid powertrain, featuring a mid-rear mounted internal combustion V6 engine paired with an electric motor on the front axle. This setup allows for maximum power of 640 kW, unhindered by any racing regulations. The powertrain, coupled with a seven-speed sequential gearbox, is wrapped in an all carbon-fibre monocoque (single piece) chassis, for a lightweight yet robust structure.

As for aesthetic, the 499P Modificata, made in collaboration with the Ferrari Styling Centre, blends technical prowess with elegant, aerodynamic forms manifesting the signature Ferrari DNA. Its design is an ode to simplicity and power, seamlessly integrating with the vehicle’s technical features to express a race-ready stance.

The limited edition model also heralds the new Sport Prototipi Clienti programme starting 2024, offering a plethora of track events for owners with the backing of Ferrari for logistical, technical and maintenance support.

Ferrari’s non-competitive track-only 499P Modificata is said to retail for approximately $5,381,673 USD and is available through iniquriy only.
