I won £111k in People's Postcode Lottery… I'm spending the money on my parents – even if they're not alive to enjoy it | The Sun

A MARRIED couple who won £111,000 in the People's Postcode Lottery say they're spending the money on their parents – even though they're not alive to enjoy it.

Michael and Paula Kerman will use their lottery winnings to buy a memorial bench after hitting the jackpot along with neighbours in Birmingham.

The pair intend to install the bench in their back garden, engraved with the names of both sets of parents who have died.

They will also add those of friends also lost in the three years since the Covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020.

The couple pocketed a £111,000 share of their West Midlands neighbourhood's "Millionaire Street" £1million prize in the People's Postcode Lottery.

Eight other households on the street won similar amounts, after being part of the subscription syndicate getting lucky this time.

Supermarket worker Paula, 57, said: "It's amazing – £12 a month and it's changed our lives completely.

"We lost both of our parents and we've lost some good friends over the last three years.

"We want to engrave all their names on to the bench, so we have somewhere to sit and reflect.

"This win maybe has got something to do with the ones that sadly aren't with us anymore."
